This was Sage just a few hours before giving birth to ten healthy pups
Even at this age, weighing in around 10 ounces on average, they can almost fill up the incubator
Not a very flattering photo of Panda but you can see that at 12 days of age he opened his eyes and the other pups soon followed suit.

The pups love their mom
And here are the pups just a few hours old.
At three days old, the pups are looking good and moving around much better than mom might want
The theme for Sage’s litter is animal names. These names are used by us to help identify the individual pups and maintain better records on each one. The names assigned are as follows.
Blue collar - Bear (male) Green collar - Gecko (male) Purple collar - Panda (male)
Orange striped collar - Otter (male) Yellow striped collar - Zebra (male)
Yellow collar - Yak (female) Red collar - Rabbit (female) Violet collar - Vole (female)
Orange collar - Orca (female) Green striped collar - Gazelle (female)
After a nice “meal” the pups decided they needed a nap.
The pups first time outside
The pups started on regular puppy food and we had to split the litter into two groups of five to make it easier on all of us. On the left is group one made up of some of the slightly larger pups, while on the right are the smaller pups enjoying the freedom from being shoved out of the way by the bigger brothers and sisters.
After a big dinner the pups are no different that all of us, it is time of a nap and taking that nap with mom is all the better. Of course, Rabbit had to take that idea of napping with mom to a bit of an extreme.

Vole
Or is it just this that they are after?
A short video of Sage having fun with the puppies
Fallen leaves are especially fun.
This is Rabbit nestling into mom for a bit of extra comfort.
The four pictures above and the video below show a little bit of the play and movement of the pups as they are now growing up.
The pups got a new and bigger pen at five weeks of age
They do love their outside time

Mom and pups at play
It is easy to get tired when you are just 4 weeks old
Poor Yak, she was not so happy about getting her first bath
Who doesn’t love rolling in a pile of leaves?
These pups absolutely love the sound, smell, and enjoyment they get from playing in a pile of leaves. Makes us think back to when we were kids and did the same thing.
Here is a fun little video of Sage’s pups on a walk in the woods.
The sure do enjoy themselves.
