The pups arrived on a Sunday afternoon. A welcome change from the usual all night marathon.
Even on hot days the pups love to pile.
Here are all the pups. Our theme for this litter is birds so the names are:
Woody (m) - Brown collar Hawk (m) - Red collar
Eagle (m) - Gray collar Dove (f) - Pink collar
Wren (f) - Orange collar Robin (f) - Blue collar
Some tired pups. Top row (l to r) Wren and Dove;,the pillow is Robin. The bottom row (l to r) are Woody, Eagle and Hawk
The pups eating their first meal of puppy food. They are a very mannerly bunch.
Robin decided to share the pillow a little bit.
At about five weeks of age the pups moved to a new pen in the walkout basement. They like having the extra room.
Now that they are downstairs they have greater access to the outdoors. This was their first meal outside.
Woody getting his first bath. At six weeks of age they have their microchips implanted, which means a bath is in order before the implant.
Pups playing in the woodchips
Dove out to play.
All that visiting wore them out. Time for a nap.
Eagle found a stick.
Mom watching over her brood.
Dove (blue collar) and Eagle (gray collar).
You can see two things in this picture. First, the size difference between Woody, so far the largest in the litter, and Eagle (he has a tendency to lose his collar), currently the smallest of the pups. The other thing you can see is that at about 10 days of age the pups began to walk on all fours.
A closer look at the "pillow puppy."
Out of the box and into a pen. They settled right down and took a nap.. The toy quickly became a pillow.
Using the feeding station. Everyone simply uses his or her own feeding dish. We wonder how long the will maintain their manners?
They took to the crate right away. This helps them to transition to a regular crate when they are older.
After dinner a quick romp in the grass. Their first time in grass was uneventful.
The pups were paid a visit by one of the families getting a puppy. I think that everyone had a good time.
Dove and Eagle visitiing with a new friend.
The pups sharing one of the favorite toys.
Lynn taking the pups on a walkabout around the farm.
Wren and Robin on their walkabout.
Here is a short video of the pups in their whelping box at about two weeks of age.
